Pictures and video demonstration of: Porous Paving Driveway Construction

Green-built (environmentally conscientious) roadway installation video summary:
Step 1 - preparing the cut into the adjacent asphalt roadway approach. Setting the correct grade depth, leveling, and re-compacting the pervious (clean angular) gravel subbase.

Notice that, when using StabiliGrid™ it is not necessry to use anchors or pins during the installation process on flat surfaces.

Watch the construction/installation video: installation video options follow...
Question: We have found that simply watching this video will answer a lot of your questions about "How difficult is it to install an environmentally sound eco-friendly road, parking lot or driveway?"
Answer: Not hard at all. And if you use the correct building material, and follow the correct prescriptive application, this porous roadway will outlast the the owner, the installers, and the buildings on the property themselves.
This video is available in various formats (including optimized for personal communications devices) ...
Step 2 - installing the high-LOAD ecogrids.
rate-of-installation: up to 1,000 square feet/man-hour.
|
Reason: StabiliGrid™ connector system is rated at approximately 1/2 ton per linear foot.
| Stability of shape: - 58º to +194º F | Compressive Strength: up to 35 tons/ft²
Tensile Strength: This creates a strong+flexible, positive-horizontal-connectivity; creating a single contiguous structure which is able to support any street-legal vehicle in the USA. Vehicula r loading = 22+ tons / vehicle axle! | lifespan = indefinite!
(Compare above to any other ecogrid in the world, all of which require "handling with kid gloves." Not StabiliGrid™! )
|
Step 3 - in situ trimming to fit using common tools.
Below: Because of the high Flexibility + Durability, dumptrucks and other construction vehicles may be driven directly on top of the exposed ecogrids during ecoraster type backfilling.
|
Step 4 - backfilling and re-leveling: For permeable roadways: Please notice that any overfill must be removed.
|
|
|
Step 5 - pressing the backfill medium into the open cells: This prevents future suface migration, the clean, porous gravel will be "wedged" into the cells to prevent erosion or migration of the backfill medium (note: there is no overfill medium ! ).
Grassed Paving: Please note that when a grassed roadway pavement surface is preferred over this engineered gravel driving surface, the pavement will strengthen over time as the vegetation root structures further anchor the system into the earth (where it belongs, not "on top of the earth").
|
Step 6 - start driving on the high-vehicular-load, water-permeable, pervious porous pavement immediately: No waiting for drying or curing, no worrying about fragility or brittlenes, the StabiliGrid™ is manufactured for public highways and streets, commercial/industrial traffic, even for military vehicular and aircraft traffic.
